Louis

One of Muriel Joseph George's earliest pieces in the California era, Louis is a treasure.  As the early pieces were made in Muriel's garage, it is believed that not many were made and so it is relatively difficult to see very many of her earliest pieces.  He is in good condition, but jhas a chip out of his base beneath the rose, a amall chip on the underside of his hat, and the exquisite porcelain lace ascot has a broken bottom edge.  (I would love to know how the porcelain lace was made;  it is so delicate!)  But with his age, probably during the 1950s, he is pushing 70 years old!  He also includes the oval silver/black Josef Originals California label which is worn.  The silver black label also indicates a very early piece.  There is minimal crazing.  Louis is lovely!  He sells for $45 plus our flat rate shipping to anywhere in the continental US.  He is listed in the reference guide by Jim and Kaye Whitker (2000) Josef Originals Figurines of Muriel Joseph George on page 19 at $55-65.  Thanks for looking.
